1. Main Characters-
- Narrator (Death)
- Liesel Meminger
- Rosa Hubermann
- Hans Hubermann
- Rudy Steiner
Minor Characters-
- Tommy Müller
- Mrs. Meminger
- Warner Meminger
- Kids at Liesel's school
- Pfiffikus
The minor characters affect the main characters in this book. Death affects Liesel by giving her nightmares about her brother dying frequently. Pfiffikus and the kids at her school make Liesel feel bad by bullying her, and lowering her self-esteem. Not many of the minor characters affect the main characters. The main characters, though, affect the main characters. For example, Rosa Hubermann, Liesel's foster mother, is very mean to her and is always using foul language.
2. I disagree with Rudy's choice to throw a snowball at Liesel for blocking his shot in soccer. I think he should have congratulated her for a job well done, being the first to deflect one of his shots, or just ignored it. I don't believe he had the right to throw mud and snow in her face.
3. This story changes my thinking in a few ways. It changes my thinking because, I used to think all the German kids went to school together, and nobody got in fights. I used to think all the German kids liked each other-at home and at schools. Reading this book and reading about Liesel's life, I have discovered that life wasn't easy, even for the German's. Liesel's school and home life is very difficult, and it is hard for her to live through. At school, everyone makes fun of her, and at home, her foster mother is a witch. Little Liesel is safe for the most part from the Nazis, but her life is by no means easy.
